Abstract:

This talk given at the Kgl. Musikaliska Akademin, Stockholm, Sweden, is about new possibilities that arise in music with the emerging new infrastructure commonly known as Information Technology, or "IT". It is touched upon how this new situation might change the idea of what a composer/producer/performer is, or whether we can view the new communication media as just another channel for distribution. I wish to credit Drs. Peter Sjödin and Dan Sahlin for correcting some of my misconceptions of the technological facts in the text below.
